Meditation

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and freedom.

The “monkey mind

The mind is a funny thing. Like one of my favourite Hindu deities, the monkey-god Hanuman, it can do many things: it can jump from thing to thing in constant movement; it can travel wherever it wants; it can, in the blink of an eye, reach distant galaxies, expanding or contracting itself at will.

So long as we allow our “animal self” to run the show though, we are pushed and pulled by our senses, fears and irrational thinking.

But we can make a different choice and put our minds to use – if we learn to observe the mind and not identify with it.

Let’s call in the “Observer” – the “Doer” can now take a break.

Together we can explore different techniques to make friends with your mind: mindfulness, mantra repetition, breathing techniques…there are as many meditation techniques as there are meditators, let’s find yours.
